VAMPIRE LIFTING PRP

PRP for hair loss in Zurich

PRP stands for "platelet-rich plasma" and contains high concentrations of growth factors. These can stimulate hair follicles and effectively promote hair growth. This modern treatment has recently gained significant popularity. After all, who doesn't dream of full, healthy hair? And ideally, without major surgery or side effects.

We offer PRP for hair loss, optionally combined with mesotherapy and exosomes to further enhance the effect.

Are you suffering from hair loss, thinning, or sparse hair? Our specialists will inform you about all treatment options. Book your personal consultation now.

What is PRP?

PRP stands for Platelet Rich Plasma. The plasma is extracted from the patient's blood and specially processed. The treatment is also known as autologous blood therapy for hair.

During processing, the individual blood components are separated in a centrifuge, and PRP (plasma without red blood cells) is extracted. The plasma is rich in growth factors, cytokines, and micronutrients and can improve cell (and hair follicle) regeneration and significantly stimulate blood circulation. In short, it helps hair follicles renew, provides important nutrients to the cells, and thus stimulates growth. The plasma is injected directly into the affected areas, such as the scalp.

How is PRP used?

Our specialists inject the purified plasma directly into the skin areas to be treated. The treatment is minimally invasive – anesthesia is not necessary in most cases. Since we only work on the superficial skin and use very thin needles, you will hardly feel anything from the treatment, except perhaps a slight prickling sensation.

There will be no scarring, and you'll be able to return to social activities immediately after the session. Plan on approximately one hour for the scalp treatment. Depending on the cause of hair loss, the treatment consists of several individual sessions spaced a few weeks or months apart.

For even better results, we can combine PRP with mesotherapy and exosomes.

How long does the PRP treatment take and how often should it be repeated?

Each session lasts approximately half an hour to one hour, depending on the size of the area to be treated. For long-term results, multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart are usually required. We coordinate the exact treatment plan with our patients in our Zurich practice.

According to studies investigating this hair loss treatment, its use can produce very good results for alopecia areata. Unlike androgenetic alopecia, hair follicles remain intact and viable in alopecia areata.

Nevertheless, therapy can be successful even in cases of hereditary hair loss if treatment is started early. If hair loss has been present for a long time and the hair roots are no longer present, the limits of treatment have been reached.

Therapy is also a good alternative if other alternative treatments (e.g., hormone therapy) for hair loss have shown side effects. It is also suitable for skin rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction, known as vampire lifting.

Is PRP treatment for hair loss painful?

Our patients generally tolerate the treatment very well. We can administer a local anesthetic prior to treatment if needed, but this is not necessary in most cases. After treatment, slight swelling around the injection sites or tiny bruises may occur. These usually subside within a few days.

It is injected into the treated areas 1 to 3 millimeters deep into the scalp using a fine needle. This therapy activates growth factors and initiates the healing process. It is recommended to perform the treatment three to four times at one-week intervals, and then repeat it approximately every one to two months until hair loss stops. Infections and allergic reactions are very unlikely.

How long does it take for the results to be visible after PRP?

Results vary from patient to patient. It usually takes a few weeks or months for the first improvements to become apparent. Hair growth can be slow and gradual, improving over time. How quickly the desired results appear also depends on the cause of hair loss—and whether the hair follicles are still vital.

How long do the results of PRP for hair loss last?

Exactly how long the treatment's success lasts depends on various factors and varies from case to case. The most important factors are the cause and reason for treatment, such as hereditary hair loss, alopecia areata, the condition after a hair transplant, or preventative use.

Is PRP also suitable for preventing hair loss?

In principle, the treatment can also be used to prevent hair loss. PRP strengthens the activity of hair follicles and improves blood circulation in the scalp – and can thus help slow hair loss and promote hair growth. At the same time, in many cases, existing hair can be strengthened, especially with regular treatments and occasional top-ups.
