What is botulinum toxin and how does it work?

Botulinum toxin has been a proven active ingredient in aesthetic medicine for decades. It is a protein (bacterial protein) and neurotoxin derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. As a medication, it is injected into specific areas to affect nerve function and temporarily reduce the activity of certain muscles. According to current legislation, neither the product name nor the full name of the active ingredient may be mentioned on our website. However, at Perfect Esthetics, we only use the original product. During this wrinkle-smoothing treatment, the muscles relax, the overlying skin smooths out, and future wrinkle formation is prevented. There is no volumizing effect like with hyaluronic acid fillers, for example. The effects begin a few days after the session and last approximately 3–6 months, depending on muscle activity and metabolism. The treatment is reversible, well-tolerated, and can be repeated as often as desired.

Which wrinkles can be treated with botulinum toxin?

This wrinkle treatment is particularly suitable for expression lines in the upper third of the face (forehead and eye area), which usually become more pronounced and noticeable with age, as the muscles can no longer fully relax:
